The 25m ASD Harbour tug which features twin aft mounted azimuthing propulsion units with a single centerline skeg and has a maximum bollard pull of 58 tonnes ahead.  The vessel has three decks with the engineering and tankage below the hull deck line with the accommodation on the main deck and the wheelhouse forward of amidships above the accommodation house. The vessel operates a single towing winch forward through an enclosed towing staple.  Substantial solid rubber fenders are fitted across the stern and aft quarters, along with tyre fending around the rest of the vessel

 

The vessel’s propulsion is provided via two main engines driving two aft azimuthing units in an ASD tug configuration.

The two main engines are Deutz TBD 620 V16 sixteen cylinder turbo diesel engines which develop 1800 kW each at 1800 rpm.  Each main engine drives aft through to a Rolls Royce US 205  azimuthing propeller unit with a 2500mm 4 blade fixed pitch propeller, housed in a Rolls Royce nozzle.

 

 

Auxiliary power is provided by a Caterpillar C4.4 turbocharged diesel engine driving 47 KVa Leroy Somer alternator and a Fiat 8031MO6 diesel engine driving a Marilli 30 KVa alternator respectively to supply ships primary AC 400-230 volts, 50 Hz AC electrical power.

DC voltages are primarily 24volt.

Electrical circuits are monitored and controlled in the engine room.

Battery banks are provided for engine start, lighting, radio and electronic equipment.

The two auxiliary engines had logged (port)11,546 hrs. and (stbd) 6774 hrs. at the time of my inspection.

 

The wheelhouse is accessed internally from the main accommodation deck below and externally on each side of the wheelhouse.  The tug Master has a central operating position with good access to the propulsion controls and the tow winch controls.

The foredeck has the hydraulic single drum towing winch, To starboard of the towing winch remote deck controls.  The enclosed towing staple has a single fairlead.

The aft deck has a hydraulic anchor windlass set up with a wire drum loaded with wire and a short length of chain coupled to the stockless anchor set up in the hawser.
