Oreti is an 11.45m single screw Workboat built in Geelong, Victoria, Australia in 1981 as a Workboat. The wheelhouse and accommodation are set forward, with a large work deck aft. 

The vessel operates a single towing hook aft.

Rubber tires are fitted fore and aft.

 

The vessel is of all welded steel construction on formed steel frames, stringers, fore, and aft girders. There are three watertight bulkheads throughout the hull. 

All steel surfaces have been well prepared and finished with appropriate marine coatings.

 

The Deckhouse is set forward on the focsle and has the helm station with engine controls and the navigation and communication equipment close at hand. A small Flybridge is located directly above the deckhouse. A small crew mess with bench seating and galley arrangement is located in the focsle forward of the lower helm station. The wheelhouse is accessed off the port side deck. 

The engine room is accessed aft from the lower helm station. The aft work deck area is in a cockpit arrangement with narrow side decks running down each side, with lockers under, along with a fold-down gate/boarding platform across the transom. A tow hook is mounted at the forward end of the cockpit deck.

 

The vessel’s propulsion is provided via a single main engine driving a propeller in a Kort nozzle.

The drive is via a Tonanco TM729D reduction gearbox with a 3.95:1 reduction driving a fixed pitch propeller in a Kort nozzle, with steering provided with twin rudders. 

The main engine is electric start, solid mounted ,and are fitted with a dry exhaust.  

The engine room contains filters, fire pumps, bilge pumping systems, and related machinery. 

The engine room was reasonably tidy with good access to all equipment that requires to be serviced and checked on a regular basis. 

The vessel's machinery spaces appear simple, functional, and reasonably maintained. 

 

Fuel Oil: Carried in two tanks with a total capacity of 4000 liters @ 100%

Potable Water: Carried in two tanks with a total capacity of 2000 liters @ 100%

 

The vessel's primary power is 24volt DC with separate volt battery banks for house and engine starting.  Batteries are charged via the main engine 100amp alternator mounted on the main engine.

The main electrical control panel with fuses and isolating switches is by the helm station in the wheelhouse.

 

The helm station is equipped with basic navigation and communication gear with much of the control and monitoring equipment appearing to be a mixture of original and somewhat newer electronic equipment.

Towing hook: The vessel is fitted with a towing hook mounted just aft of the funnel housing.

Anchor: The Danforth type anchor loaded with 12mm chain and rope rode is stowed in the aft lazerette, along with a spare 50 kg Stockless anchor stowed aft of the funnel.

 

The decks are checker plates and have been painted for slip resistance.

 

The galley area is small and does not appear to be utilized.

Domestic galley equipment includes:

Small stainless benchtop with sink with pressure hot and cold water

Junkers Hot water dispenser.

 

The vessel is equipped and maintained with the safety equipment required for the MNZ survey.

An eight-person Viking liferaft is provided and is stowed just forward of the flybridge.   

Fire Extinguishers, Life rings, GME MT600 406MHz EPIRB are also provided.

Lifesaving appliances are provided for up to ten (10) persons.
